Hip Hop artists, breakdancers, DJs and more join Bryan and Paul Johnson  share the story's plot, excerpts from the book, and insights into how they decided to create a novel with a soundtrack! This event has live performances, short documentay clips, movie clips, and MORE.

THE STORY

 

Solomon “Sal” Stein has dreams of success in the music industry. At the breakout moment of his music career, he is brought into the fold of Detroit-based, “One By One” Records (IXI), the hottest hip hop label in the country. But, the deeper Sal gets into the world of IXI, he realizes everything that glitters is not gold. Pushy corporate reps who want to steal his house, his growing feelings for a mysterious industry executive, and obscure messages hidden in plain sight are making it impossible to know what to believe. After the unthinkable happens and Sal thinks he’s found the person with all the answers, he learns there’s always another side of the story. Will Sal get what he’s looking for, or will he lose everything at the hands of those he thought he could trust?

A Convergence of Literature, Music, and Video

Part novel, part soundtrack, the IXI: Rise of the King project combines elements of sight and sound to create a unique experience for the reader.   As characters perform in the story, you can listen to the music and watch video that compliment the action. THE IXI SOUNDTRACK - DELUXE EDITION​
 

While there are several songs that compliment the story, the Deluxe Edition of the soundtrack includes additional songs inspired by the novel. This soundtrack, produced by Breathe Easy Music Group, features Jamall Bufford as King Sal, Paul Johnson, as Keno the Money Man, and several independent artists.   Click "Learn More" to hear more about the soundtrack and the ideas behind it.
